Novelist J.R. Thornton to Speak at Palmer Trinity School
Palmer Trinity School is pleased to announce that J.R. Thornton, author of the novel Beautiful Country, will speak to the community about his newly released book. It tells the story of Chase, a 14-year-old American boy, who moves to China to study the language and to train with the nation's best tennis players.
Palmetto Bay, FL -- (SBWire) -- 05/23/2016 --Thornton, now 22, drew from his own experiences from the journals he kept during his time in China while studying and competing in tennis. An earlier version of the novel was the manuscript for an independent study he did as a senior in high school.
The conversation with Thornton is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24, at 4:00 p.m. in the private dining room on the Palmer Trinity campus.
"Prior to going to China, I had very limited knowledge of the country," Thornton said. "But the year I spent in Beijing helped me to see how China is fascinating, complex and evolving at a rapid pace."
