UK Data Centre Trends; New Report Launched
Market Research Reports, Inc. has announced the addition of “UK Data Centre Trends” research report to their website www.MarketResearchReports.com
Lewes, DE -- (SBWire) -- 06/15/2016 --As of the end of June 2016 UK DCCP is forecast to be 701 MW and UK Data Centre raised floor space is forecast to be 657,000 m2 in total.
Publisher forecasts that the UK Data Centre market, the largest in Europe, continues to see growth in new raised floor space and Data Centre Customer Power (DCCP) over the six month period to the end of June 2016.
UK Data Centre raised floor space has increased by almost 22,000 m2 and DCCP has risen by 32 MW over the past six month period, due to new space introduced by Equinix (LD6), Gyron/NTT (Hemel Hempstead), Telehouse Europe (North2), Datavita (Scotland) & Volta (London).
The UK Data Centre landscape continues to evolve, with two thirds of all new Data Centre space being constructed outside of the London/M25 area, with Slough becoming the largest Data Centre cluster outside of London. The spread of Data Centre clusters, with their own associated IT & telecoms ecosystem, continues with Milton Keynes, Birmingham and Manchester forming Data Centre clusters with average rates that are 25 to 40 per cent below the average seen in the London/M25 area.
The London/M25 area is the largest single Data Centre cluster and still accounts for 37 per cent of all UK Data Centre space, but the proportion is falling over time as new facilities become established in other geographical areas.
Data Centre facilities are being constructed in new green-field areas, including Newport (Wales) and between Glasgow & Edinburgh (Datavita Fortis). These facilities are able to take advantage of reduced land costs and are offering lower priced hosting than the London/M25 areas.
The June 2016 edition of the Publisher UK Data Centre Trends survey shows that the cost of Data Centre space in the Slough area continues to increase with average rates almost as high as the London/M25 area cluster – due in part to the utilization of high specification Data Centre space, which are now achieving premium pricing.
New Data Centre services are being introduced based on cloud connectivity, offering direct private network access to multiple cloud providers in the Data Centre leveraging the ecosystem of providers in the facility – with "cloud direct" services launched by Interxion, Virtus, Datum and Colt Telecom during the period.
Other UK Data Centre trends include the blurring of retail and wholesale space, with Data Centre Providers offering a range of space for both segments using flexible Data Centre facilities. Wholesale Data Centre Providers are also providing individual racks of capacity via partners or resellers, with the result that there are a range of facilities offering enterprise services.
As of the end of June 2016, UK DCCP is forecast to be 701 MW and UK Data Centre raised floor space is forecast to be 657,000 m2 in total.
Publisher finds that UK Data Centre pricing varies mainly according to the geographical cluster, the specification of the facility and the level of connectivity present at the Data Centre facility
