Earlier this month, South Florida law firm Hochman & Goldin, P.A. discussed some of the Florida traffic rules that drivers sometimes fail to follow, increasing the risk of accidents.

Miami, FL -- (SBWire) -- 08/30/2016 --There is currently no Florida law explicitly mentioning who has the right of way, but there are rules in place in terms of which driver is responsible for yielding when a traffic situation arises. In a four way stop for example, it's expected that the first driver to arrive at the stop will have the right of way. If two drivers arrive at the stop simultaneously, the driver to the right has the right of way.

The majority of drivers are aware that when emergency vehicles have their sirens on, they should move out of the way as soon as it is safe to do so. Many drivers are unaware that it is also the law to allow buses to merge back into traffic. Drivers should also be aware that they must yield to a funeral procession.

If a driver is making a right turn on a red light, he or she must wait and yield to a driver that is a making a legal U-turn.
