Hochman & Goldin Discusses Coral Gables Speed Limits
South Florida law firm Hochman & Goldin, P.A. recently discussed the efforts by the City of Coral Gables to lower speed limits across many of its areas.
Miami, FL -- (SBWire) -- 09/28/2016 --To avoid injuries involving pedestrians and potential death, the City of Coral Gables is aiming to reduce speed limits in many of its frequently traveled areas, breaking from the 30 miles per hour speed limit typically found in most of South Florida's residential neighborhoods. The city intends to drop speed limits to 25 miles per hour in most of its neighborhoods, while several of its gated communities will see speed limits drop to 20 miles per hour. Any neighborhoods that don't have the lower speed limits posted will default to 30 miles per hour.
Coral Gables City Commission has already voted on and approved the new lower speed limit initiative in a preliminary vote. A second and final vote is pending.
While five miles may seem minor, it can make a crucial difference in saving someone's life in the event of an accident involving pedestrian injuries, potentially avoiding death.
