Rev. Charles Moorer Selected as Pastor of the Week for IWU Alumni Blog
Indianapolis, IN -- (SBWire) -- 12/15/2016 --Rev. Charles Moorer, lead pastor at Divine Direction Christian Church in Indianapolis, Ind., was recently featured as the Pastor of the Week in the Indiana Wesleyan University Alumni blog.
The blog article, titled "'Insuring that the Message of Grace is Delivered': Rev. Charles T. Moorer, Jr. – Pastor of the Week" conveys Rev. Moorer's devotion to his ministry and church, and the connection between his faith and his roles as a business owner, author, musician and educator.
According to the article, Rev. Moorer has ministered at Divine Direction Christian Church for more than 13 years and is heavily involved in serving not only his congregation, but also the surrounding community.
Rev. Moorer's ministry provides food for families in need, supports a transportation and meal program called Feed My Sheep Ministry, and a hosted a community Thanksgiving dinner. Over 200 families have been served this year. "We are now marching together," Rev. Moorer says in the article.
His desire to serve extends to his role as a small business entrepreneur offering property and casualty services, claims advocacy and management consulting. Blog author Rick Carder writes that Rev. Moorer's "bi-vocational role is an example of someone who loves to serve and intentionally finds resources to meet the needs of people."
Rev. Moorer also shares his faith through the written word in his recent book and song lyrics as the leader signer of the band The Faithful Few. Rather than billing themselves as entertainers, The Faithful Few is a ministry full of love of God and concerned about doing His will by spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music.
In his book Giving Up Is Not an Option, Rev. Moorer shares his family's inspirational story of how, even on the verge of losing everything, they kept their faith and pushed through the difficult circumstances in their life. Carder calls the book "a must-read" and "a powerful example of a modern-day story of Job."
While education is found throughout Rev. Moorer's mission, professionally he has taught at IWU since 2009. Both music scholars, his daughter recently graduated from IWU and his son is a current student.
