Perhaps the ‘biggest’ news of the year is that Toyota’s North American assembly plants produced a whopping 1,456,887 vehicles last year. That’s an 18% increase from 2009. Toyota has assembly plants in Canada, California, Texas, Indiana, and Kentucky. Vehicle assembled in the United States and Canada include the Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Avalon, Matrix, Venza, Sienna, RAV4, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra, and Lexus RX 350.

Plenty To Be Excited About For Fresno Scion Fans

In addition to creating lots of cars that people love, Toyota’s North American Assembly plants also reached a few other notable milestones in 2010.

• In September the Toyota plant located in Canada celebrated its four-millionth-vehicle assembly.

• Likewise, the Kentucky Toyota plant had reason to celebrate this year as they assembled their eight-millionth engine back in July.

• After a $450-millon dollar investment in the Indiana plant for necessary upgrades, the production processes were running on all cylinders and really increased the production of the Highlander and the all-new Sienna. Four thousand one hundred people are currently employed at the Indiana Toyota plant.

• Toyota invested about $1.4 billion in the San Antonio plant to prepare the plant for the production of the Tacoma, the investment has also increased employment by 1,000 jobs – there are now 2,800 people employed at the Texas facility.

• Local leadership has also increased across the North American assembly plants. Four new American plant presidents were named by TEMA in addition to three American chief engineers by the Toyota Technical Center.
