Nissan LEAF in MA Garners Top Award

Marlboro Nissan is proud to announce that the 2011 Nissan LEAF in MA has earned the Eco-Friendly Car of the Year award from cars.com. This award is a testament to the amazing, environmentally-friendly features on the LEAF.

East Marlboro, MA -- (SBWire) -- 03/16/2011 -- Marlboro Nissan, one of the leading sellers on the Nissan LEAF in MA, is happy to announce that the 2011 Nissan LEAF earned the Eco-Friendly Car of the Year Award from cars.com. The Nissan LEAF has been earning accolades left and right during awards season and it’s easy to see why. This vehicle is redefining the meaning of an environmentally friendly vehicle and the possibilities of its use are endless. This revolutionary car is the first of its kind, offering a more economically efficient model than the current hybrid technologies.

This recognition closely follows a Ward’s Auto “10 Best Engines” nod, a Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Award and a 2011 European Car of the Year Award.

“Nissan is simply ahead of the game,” said Cars.com, which cited the LEAF’s straightforward design and innovative technology as factors in the award win.

Without so much as a drop of gas, the Nissan LEAF in MA has captured the imagination of the automotive world. At the heart of the Nissan LEAF lies one of the reasons why: its high-response 80kW AC synchronous motor powered by a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery.

MA Nissan LEAF Dealer

The 2011 Nissan LEAF in MA is the first pure-electric car offered for sale to the US mass market. This 5-passenger, 4-door hatchback runs exclusively on electric power. LEAF comes in two trim levels, base SV and the SL. All use a 107-horsepower electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. The LEAF currently offers a maximum driving range of 100 miles. LEAF's charging port can accommodate a 110-volt or 220-volt household outlet and takes about 20 hours to charge the battery from a 110-volt outlet.

Using a special in-home 220-volt charging station, a full charge takes about 8 hours. SL models are available with a "quick charge" port that can charge the battery to 80 percent capacity in 30 minutes.

Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags. A navigation system is standard on all. SL models have a rearview camera and small roof-mounted solar panel, which provides a trickle charge to the 12-volt battery that powers accessory items, such as the climate system.

This vehicle provides a driving experience typical of a traditional, gasoline-powered vehicle, but without any of the harmful emissions they produce. The 2011 Nissan LEAF has already arrived in select markets and will be available nationwide in 2012.

Marlboro Nissan will be one of the best places for drivers to purchase one of their own when this innovative vehicle arrives in the area.
