Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWire) -- 07/25/2017 --The Los Angeles location of ImageFIRST Healthcare Laundry Specialists, which provides medical laundry services in San Diego and nearby areas, created and hosted an in-house community event from June 5th through the 9th in support of the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is a national childhood cancer foundation that is dedicated to spreading awareness and raising funds for research into new treatments and cures for children battling cancer.

Alex's Lemonade Days, founded by Alex Scott (1996-2004) in 2004, grew out of Alex's front yard lemonade stand and eventually became a week-long national event. Every June, an estimated 10,000 volunteers host over 2,000 Alex's Lemonade Stands across the nation to make a difference and raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research. This year, the national event was set for June 3rd through the 11th.

Sandra Barrios, an office manager with ImageFIRST, decided to begin hosting a lemonade stand during Alex's Lemonade Days because of her nephew, who was diagnosed with leukemia at two years old.

The ImageFIRST lemonade stand was designed by associates at the LA office who chose to sell fresh Mexican water and lemonade in the office all week. Flavors included cucumber, jicama, tamarind, and melon, reflecting the rich heritage of the office.

Also, the associates volunteered to cook and sell several dishes to raise more funds. Dishes included pozole, sopes, pupusas, Salvadorian tamales, hamburgers, hot dogs, and pastries. All food items sold out every day that the stand was running.

The goal of the stand was to raise $500, but the ImageFIRST associates surpassed that by raising almost $900.
