New HVAC system allows injured man, family to breathe a little easier

On March 19, Joe Stutzman was driving his motorcycle, swerved to avoid a car and was involved in a horrific crash. He suffered two shattered vertebrae, three broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a broken nose and other serious injuries.

Following the crash, Joe Stutzman underwent a five-hour surgery, which included three hours trying to repair his spinal cord. The crash left him paralyzed from the waist down and in need of a number of costly items to help navigate his new reality. For example, he has difficulty regulating his body temperature because of his injuries—a challenge that sent the family in search of help installing a central air conditioning unit. His wife has created a Go Fund Me page for anyone who would like to help handle the huge financial burden the family faces. According to the Go Fund Me page, Joe Stutzman needs a wheelchair and a wheelchair-accessible van to get around, and the family's house must be retrofitted for wheelchair accessibility. To date, the family has raised about $8,860 of its $75,000 goal.
