Global Tracheostomy Tube Market Demand and Forecast of 2018-2025 : Health-Care
A tracheostomy is a curved tube which is placed into a tracheostomy stoma (hole made in the neck and windpipe) to secure the airway for patients who need prolonged invasive mechanical ventilation, have upper-airway obstruction, underwent a laryngectomy, or have difficulty managing secretions. A normal tracheostomy tube comprises three parts namely outer cannula with flange (neck plate), inner cannula, and an obturator. The outer cannula is the outer tube that holds the tracheostomy open. A neck plate extends from the sides of the outer tube and has holes to attach cloth ties or velcro strap around the neck. The inner cannula is placed inside the outer cannula and has a lock to prevent it from being coughed out. The obturator is used to insert a tracheostomy tube.
