Guangzhou, Guangdong -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/15/2011 -- The latest issue of Industrial Biotechnology China News, released on July 8th, 2011, focuses on the effiencient way of collecting cellulosic resources.
It is difficult for domestic bio-energy enterprises to collect cellulosic biomass efficiently and economically, although China is abundant in cellulosic biomass resources. The reason is that the cellulosic resources are irregularly scattered all over the rural areas in China, and it is impossible to collect all of them. It is reported that 70% of cellulosic resources are still waiting for further exploitation in China.
Professor Qu, an expert in Environmental Microbiology from State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology, points out that the low-efficiency way of collection is still the major obstacle hindering domestic bio-energy enterprises from making full use of cellulosic resources.
National Bio-energy Group Co., Ltd. (National Bio-energy Group), the largest bio-based power generation enterprise in China, sets a good example of how to deal with this problem.
The company has established 26 branches and will have another 10 in the near future. These branches will set up purchasing stations, which will purchase the agricultural residues periodically as their cellulosic resources from farmers nearby. This approach can largely shorten the distance between production sites and raw material supply sites, and thus cut down the logistic costs. In fact, many other bio-energy producers adopt this way to utilize cellulosic resources efficiently.
