Marcus, a NYU Film Alumnus, began his fashion film career editing videos for Christian Dior and Estée Lauder along with Omega, RADO, and Bedat.
New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/29/2011 -- Currently, Marcus K. Jones Productions, Inc., creates campaign videos and branded fashion films exclusively for the fashion industry. His keen eye for beauty and attire builds trust with most discriminating clientele. Noteworthy collaborations include Cinema Editorial for numerous online publications.
His latest project, a documentary he co-executive produced with James Belzer titled, The Tents, captures the last two seasons of New York Fashion Week at Bryant Park. The fashion film documentary provides a history of the bi-annual affair by way of runway show footage and interviews with fashion insiders like Donna Karan, Fern Mallis, Hal Rubenstein, Zac Posen, Suzy Menkes, and Isaac Mizrahi.
“I had to take a year off fashion film to edit this documentary. I put a lot of myself in it, as did James.” The documentary will screen during New York Fashion Week in September.
The Boston native always had a love for the moving image. At the age of ten, his father purchased a camcorder for the express purpose of recording Marcus’s youth. But, Marcus said, “I didn’t end up in any of the footage — I was the one behind the camera.” A natural cineaste, he and his friends made music videos set to rap soundtracks and projected them onto bed sheets in the backyard.
Years later Marcus took his interest in fashion film and enrolled at NYU.
Until 1994, shows were held in different locations, such as hotels, or lofts. Eventually, after a structural accident at a Michael Kors show, the event moved to Bryant Park, behind the New York Public Library, where it remained until 2010, when the shows relocated to Lincoln Center.
