Manager of Edgartown Yacht Club (Edgartown, MA) Elected NECMA Secretary

 

Norton, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/19/2011 -- William J. Roman, Manager of Edgartown Yacht Club in Edgartown (Martha’s Vineyard), MA was elected Secretary of the New England Club Managers Association (NECMA), the original chapter of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), at the association's annual meeting held at Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord, MA on October 17th.

Mr. Roman has been serving as Club Manager at Edgartown Yacht Club since 1986 and joined CMAA in 1990. He served as Chairman of the 2007 Inaugural East Coast Yacht Club Symposium and is currently Communications Chair of the NECMA Board. Mr. Roman is a member of the International Wine Society and received an AOS from the Culinary Institute of America in 1978.

Mr. Roman was elected NECMA Director for a one-year term at the 2007 NECMA Annual Meeting at Winchester Country Club on October 29, 2007. He was then elected to a three year tem on October 27, 2008 at the Annual Meeting at Mount Pleasant Country Club.

As Secretary, Mr. Roman will continue with NECMA members to develop and promote high standards of professionalism in private club management, and further uphold the NECMA mission statement: to provide education to persons connected with the management of clubs and other associations of similar character, to promote and encourage efficient and successful club management, and to advance friendly relations among its members.

The New England Club Managers Association (NECMA), the original chapter of the Club Managers Association of America, was established in 1914 and has since been a leader in the advancement of opportunities for private club managers, and foremost, students of the culinary and hospitality industries.
