Tablets will be the most desired electronic gift this Christmas according to Customer Electronics Association’s (CEA) 18th Annual CE Holiday Purchase Patterns Study.
London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/08/2011 -- With Christmas fast approaching, tablets are the most desired and wanted gadget for Christmas according to the Customer Electronics Association’s (CEA) 18th Annual CE Holiday Purchase Patterns Study. The CEA suggests that on average, consumers plan to spend $768 on Christmas gifts this year, with $243 going towards electronic gifts.
If the CEA study is correct, manufacturers offering tablets priced at under $243 will most likely benefit this Christmas. Such tablets that fall within this category include Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet priced at $199, which is already topping the pre-order list for the world’s most successful online retailer.
But according to research Gartner Inc, Apple will dominate the Christmas sales of tablet computers with their iPad 2, which is priced well above the $243 at $499 for the 16GB model. “Apple delivers a superior and unified user experience across its hardware, software and services,” Carolina Milanesi, research vice president at Gartner said. Global tablet sales are predicted to more than triple this year and likely to reach just under 64 million units alone according to Gartner.
“With tablet computers becoming more personal and more affordable, we predict tablet sales will be really high. We think there will be big demand for affordable low priced tablets such as Amazon’s Kindle Fire but at the top end of the market, consumers will still want to buy the Apple iPad 2 because it looks great, is easy to use and has the biggest number of apps available on their app store. ” said the creator of SlateTabletReviews.com.
