Based on the body style of today’s BMW 1 Series, the BMW ActiveE achieves emission-free mobility without compromising the well-known BMW performance. Only 700 of these Electric Vehicles are being delivered out to the general public, and JMK BMW in Springfield is the New Jersey BMW ActiveE Center kicking off the excitement.

Last week, JMK BMW delivered what is now the second BMW ActiveE on the road from JMK BMW, to Mr. Chris Neff of Mendham, NJ. Mr. Neff picked up his ActiveE to commence the deliveries of ActiveE to VIP and Friends and Family on the East Coast. Mr. Neff is no stranger to Electric Vehicles (EV), having owned a MiniE electric car for the last year.

With gas prices on the rise in New York and surrounding metro areas, Mr. Neff is excited to have the opportunity to track as many miles as possible with this new electric BMW.

JMK BMW’s first ActiveE customer, and the first ever ActiveE customer in the United States, is sharing his own experience from the behind the wheel of his BMW electric car. Tom Moloughney is contributing his story to BMWBlog.com and submitted his first article just last week. Mr. Moloughney has racked up about 5,000 miles in the past 2 months and from his experience he sums up the ActiveE as a “Great driving experience. The car is just what I would expect from BMW. Its rock solid, has great handling, is very comfortable and the cabin is exceptionally quiet, even for an EV.”

A quick overview of the BMW ActiveE shows that, based on BMW AG test results, its coordinated motor develops full torque from a standstill to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 9 seconds. That is an immediate 184 lb-ft or torque with up to 170 horsepower. For the range, BMW states that the ActiveE can easily reach a full charge overnight, allowing a driver to travel about 100 miles on a full charge.
