Louisville, KY -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/03/2010 -- Sunday May 30th will mark the 579th anniversary of the death of St. Joan of Arc. MaidOfHeaven.com remembers Joan of Arc on this day with a special page dedicated to her and the inspiring way that she met her death. This special page at MaidOfHeaven.com contains actual eyewitness descriptions of Saint Joan of Arc during her last moments on earth.

Why is Saint Joan of Arc still remembered today? Joan’s life was one that contained great triumph as well as great tragedy. She was put in command of the French armies at only seventeen years of age and she was able to completely reverse a war that had been going on for almost 100 years that the French were about to lose. In spite of saving her country, Joan was ultimately captured by her enemies and burned as a heretic because of their great fear of her as a leader. The story of Joan’s life has inspired people down through the ages with her example of bravery and self sacrifice. Mark Twain, the great American writer, described Joan as “perhaps the only entirely unselfish person whose name has a place in profane history." Sir Winston Churchill, the legendary leader of Britain in WWII, once wrote that: "Joan was a being so uplifted from the ordinary run of mankind that she finds no equal in a thousand years." Andrew Lang, famous Scottish author and historian in comparing Joan to William Wallace said: "She was the bravest of the brave."
