Apple Inspires a New Sound from Vocal Vixen Kai Brant

Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/10/2010 -- Former Los Angeles rocker Kai Brant changes the tone on her new self-titled release with a mixture of avant-garde and experimental pop tunes, thanks in part to her discovery of the Apple computer. From high-energy electronic loops to slow piano ballads, the new album presents ten unique tracks featuring many guest musicians and plenty of experimentation.

Kai has traditionally written music with a guitar and notepad by her side, but Apple Loops provided a different means for creation. After a decade of playing in rock bands, she began dabbling with the many electronic sound loops and fell in love with the creative possibilities. Her new exploration began in Long Beach, California as producer of The Hat Trix Project where she integrated poets, musicians, and computer technology to create a theatrical experience with a modern twist. She soon brought this approach into her own writing which changed the entire vibe of her former sound. “I struggle with maintaining a specific genre because I am constantly evolving as a person. Inevitably, the music evolves with me.”

As for Kai’s solo debut, the switch from rock to a more sultry, experimental vibe works to her advantage. Her diverse musical background has helped to create a wide array of tracks ranging from her prose in “Fluffy Clouds” to the jazz speakeasy vibe of “Love You Then Leave You” to the psychedelic remake of Gershwin’s “Nice Work If You Can Get It”. What ties the musical journey together is her trademark voice, which soothes the listener with vocal integrity and peerless vulnerability.

“I’ve stepped outside of the popular music box on this album. I tapped into my right brain and ignored the formulas, and that gave me immense freedom to openly explore both as a songwriter and as a producer. I really enjoyed the process of not trying to fit in and being completely free to paint my own unique musical portrait. I owe a lot of that exploration to Apple.”
