Local Eye Care Clinic Brings 22 Lbs. Of Food With The Help of Patients
Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/02/2015 -- Fox Chase Family Eye Care, a local eye care clinic in the Philadelphia area, accomplished a herculean feat this past holiday season as it managed to gather 22 pounds of canned food to donate to those less fortunate over the holidays. "It is always humbling and rewarding to engage in an act of giving and kindness during the holiday season, and to help another person, or many people, enjoy their holidays just a little bit more by showing that there are people out there who care about and are thinking of them," comments Dr. Lance Dunoff.
Fox Chase Family Eye Care worked together with Philabundance, a local organization that aims to fight hunger by reducing food waste, to accomplish this incredible act of kindness. "In recent years, many more people have been hit by the increasingly difficult economic situation here, and they are having to rely on Philabundance to feed themselves and their families," says Dr. Dunoff, explaining the importance of this project, "At the same time, it seems that this same difficult economic climate is making donations to Philabundance smaller and harder to come by. With this in mind, we at Fox Chase Family Eye Care realized the great importance of this effort and wanted to make sure that we and our patients were able to help at this most dear and important time of year. Thanks to the generous help of our staff and patients, we were able to gather a great deal of food to help those who may be having a hard time putting together a solid meal this holiday season. We are very grateful to everyone that came together to make this incredible act of giving an even greater success than we could have ever imagined."
Dr. Dunoff and his staff welcome you to join them every year for this food drive and encourage you to speak to them further about giving to Philabundance all year long the next time you come in for your annual comprehensive eye exam.
