Armenia is a country that has not yet been able to accept the LGBTs beyond any discrimination. Through this campaign, Adam Manukyan is making a desperate attempt to save his depressed and suicide-prone friend Mike.
Yerevan, Armenia -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/13/2015 -- Life has always been difficult for Adam Manukyan as a gay in Armenia. Unfortunately, Adam's home country has not yet been able to put together a system that ensures adequate human rights for the LGBT community. In Armenia, the LGBTs are regularly found to be the helpless victims of discrimination at schools, universities, and workplaces. Most unfortunately, it is impossible for a gay to get a job in the country without hiding his sexuality.
Making things worse, there is a very strong and aggressive community of homophobes in Armenia that spare no chance to abuse and attack the LGBTs. Recently. A parade was organized by the LGBTs to demand their rights. This parade came to an abrupt end when the participants were attacked by a group of violent homophobes.
Thousands of Armenians just like Adam are finding it extremely difficult to handle the situation. Many of them feel that life in this country is no better than being in a cage. Unable to handle this traumatic condition, Adam's good friend Mike recently tried to commit suicide and was discharged from the hospital just a few days ago.
Adam Manukyan has launched this Indiegogo campaign to get his friend Mike out of Armenia. Adam feels that Europe, the United States, or Canada can be the ideal place for Mike to relocate. Adam has already calculated the financial requirement for visa, tickets, and Mike's expenses until he finds a job.
Unfortunately, both Adam and Mike earn only around $400 a month working as waiters. This is why Adam is looking forward to generous contributions from Indiegogo to offer a new life to his friend.
The funding goal for this project is $14,000, and this campaign will end on March 02, 2015.
