Zagreb, Croatia -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/16/2015 -- For their fourth anniversary, Croatian entrepreneur Karlo Suskovic wants to surprise his wife Sarah with a very unique gift.
A line of classic wristwatches that will be sold around the world.
OK, this story needs a bit of explaining so let's start at the beginning. Sarah loves watches and even wrote a short story about a fictional character, George Rivera, who simply adores thin, classic watches.
"So I designed a watch especially for Sarah and found a manufacturer to make two of them, one for her and one for me," recalls Suskovic. "The watches have leather and nylon straps that can be changed for different occasions. It's a simple, but very classy watch, nice and thin. She loves it and so do I."
Sarah thought it would be a great idea to mass produce the watches and sell them under the brand name George Rivera. She put a great deal of time and effort into this project but eventually gave up. Although Sarah deeply regretted her decision, the venture was taking up too much of her time.
Suskovic knew, though, that deep in her heart it was a lost dream so he secretly pursued a manufacturer and arranged to have the watches produced. He arranged the production details, made prototypes and developed a marketing strategy, negotiating with entrepreneurs in the US and Canada. A website is under construction.
Just one piece is missing: the funding. Suskovic needs $12,000 for materials, manufacturing costs, shipping and marketing. Donations of any amount are welcome. For $140, backers will receive a first edition watch. Available case colors are silver, gold, rose gold and bronze. Contributors can choose nylon straps in blue, red, pink, green and white or leather straps in black, light and dark brown. Free shipping is offered to anywhere in the world.
Through a special Valentine's Day promotion, two watches – his and hers – can be had for a pledge of $214.
"If we can pull it off, this will be the surprise of a lifetime for Sarah," Suskovic says. "We'll be establishing our own brand of watches and working together to market them. She is going to love it."
