Bill Beazley Homes helps homeowners keep their homes in great condition with their spring maintenance checklist.
Evans, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/27/2015 -- It's normal for homes to look a little worse for wear after the dreary winter months. However, once spring rolls around, it's time to bust out the garden hoe and get it looking in tip top shape again. Bill Beazley Homes shares their spring maintenance checklist on their latest blog. These 12 tips will help homeowners prepare for the warm months ahead and target the areas that need immediate attention fast. "In 2015, we are also looking at a few additional steps that may help homeowners save money on energy bills or help homeowners avoid big-ticket repairs down the road," says Bill Beazley Homes.
Among the tips from Bill Beazley Homes are to inspect the AC, change the thermostat, and caulk the cracks. A technician should be called once a year to check the drains and vents of the AC. In addition, a programmable thermostat can save a homeowner hundreds on heating bills every year. Caulking the cracks is equally important because gaps can cause heat to escape. "Exterior caulking should be reapplied when gaps form around a door or window that are wider than a nickel," says Bill Beazley Homes.
Next, Bill Beazley Homes suggests repairing the roof, pressure-washing the exterior, and washing the windows during spring. Cracked, loose and missing shingles should be replaced, but if damage is more severe, it's time to start saving for a replacement roof. Pressure washers can be rented, depending on the vendor, for less than $100 a day, which Bill Beazley Homes says is enough time to tackle the siding, sidewalks, driveway, garage floor, fences, and lawn furniture. When washing the windows, homeowners should use a soft brush or vacuum attachment to clean out the grime from the window sills and tracks. "Pour a little water into the sill to ensure that weep holes, which drain rainwater to the exterior, haven't been clogged," says Bill Beazley Homes.
