Excellence in singing with a heartfelt connection through music since 1955
Calgary, AB -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/28/2015 -- Saturday May 9th, at 2pm and a 7pm encore, the Stampede City Chorus, as well as their special guests, The Bon Vivants Quartet, will be putting on a show for the entire family to enjoy! Daydreaming, their 60th anniversary show, will take place at the McDougall Church located in south-east Calgary.
When asked what the chorus' vision is, the response you'd hear is "to sing our best in a growing chorus, learning, performing, enjoying this art form and entertaining the public. If you think you can sing… you can!"
About The Stampede City Chorus
The Stampede City Chorus is an a-Capella chorus singing barbershop four-part style music. Since they formed in 1955, the chorus has developed an exciting history of being named the Top Chorus in the Evergreen District (western Canada and north west USA) four times, they hosted an International Convention for the society in 1993 that brought 11,500 singers to Calgary (which was the largest conference in Calgary at the time) and they've also hosted the Evergreen District Convention several times. Rehearsals take place Wednesday evenings at 7:15pm at the Scarboro United Church and are open to the public. Guest night will take place on May 13th.
The hidden story of the Stampede Chorus is it's membership. One of our long term members, a veteran of the 2nd World War, celebrated his 93rd birthday this past month! We are in great need of new members to achieve sustainable growth of the Stampede Chorus. We welcome members of the press to come and enjoy this annual event, explore this community and meet our members who will share their individual experiences with the Chorus. You are welcome to attend any of our weekly rehearsals as well.
Attendees are encouraged can purchase tickets through our website, and if your children are under the age of 12, they get in free! Complimentary tickets are available to the media (or a private viewing may be arranged for live videos, or photos prior to the concert)
