Birmingham, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/05/2015 -- The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have commented the rise in online shopping, thus home delivery, has seen close to 100,000 vans being registered in the first quarter of 2015, which is a 22.3% increase on the same quarter in 2014.
Since the SMMT commenced in 1987, this is the highest number of van and lorry sales recorded. It has also been release by IMGR Capgemini e-Retails Sales Index that online sales made £103 billion last year, which is predicted to rise another 12% in 2015; that would mean £1 out of every £4 spent will have been on online sales.
An SMMT spokesperson said: "Van registrations have risen consistently over the past two years, mainly as a result of steadily increasing business confidence and a range of attractive finance deals. The move towards online shopping and home deliveries is an important contributor to this growth - particularly that of large vans."
