Faulty Boiler Implicated in Tragic Death of Children Aged 6 and 7

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/18/2015 -- An expert witness at a fact-finding inquiry into the tragic deaths of two children whilst on holiday in Corfu in 2006 has explained how a dysfunctional boiler with inadequate safety protections led to their tragic deaths. Robert and Christianne Shepherd, aged 6 and 7 were on holiday with family when they suffered from fatal levels of carbon monoxide poisoning. Whilst their mother bravely continues her campaign into the investigation of their deaths, the Court has heard how a faulty boiler led to the toxic levels of carbon monoxide poisoning which also left the children's mother in a coma.

The most evident implications of the news thus far is the widespread outrage at the travel agency, Thomas Cook, for their failure to adequately inspect the boiler at the bungalow where the tragedy occurred. It is likely that the outcome of the inquiry will impact the responsibility of travel agents to ensure that all residences within their remit comply with adequate health and safety standards.

About Speedy Gas
Speedy Gas are a team of heating engineers based in London, who previously worked with British Gas before branching out on their own when they felt that the heating industry required a more personal approach. A spokesperson for the company was confounded by the news in the Corfu case, 'This is a tremendously tragic event, which is heart-breaking to hear about particularly when you work in this industry. My heart goes out to the parents, it truly is a tragedy and quite deeply upsetting. We understand the potentially dire health and safety risks involved with boilers and all gas appliances. It is a devastating shame that such a preventable event was not paid adequate attention to in time. It makes you wonder what safety standards were in place that could have prevented it from happening. It's something we have been conscious of in the past, so we made sure we were Gas Safe registered and possessed all the necessary accreditations to assure our clients of our proficiency in this area. All our work is carried out to the highest standards of safety and professionalism. We thinks it makes a huge difference to use a company with a more personal touch in this respect and we leave our customers fully confident to contact us with any concerns should they arise, which they rarely do. Again, it is a very tragic case and I hope that this enables people to think a little deeper before selecting companies to obtain these services.'
