CEO A. Harrison Barnes of Hound believes that the Texas economy is still creating thousands of jobs but employers are taking time to fill up those positions. “Most employers are looking for workers who can multitask, and this is true across all industries.”
Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/01/2010 -- The unemployment rate in Texas fell in September to 8.1 percent with the state adding 3,700 jobs.
Data released on Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission showed that September was the first month of positive jobs gain after June. Unemployment also decreased in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area to 7.9 percent from 8.4 percent. Texas was one of the 16 states that saw a positive jobs growth in September.
But one of the reasons for the unemployment drop is that people have simply stopped looking for work and have dropped off the rolls. Nathaniel Karp, an economist for the BBVA Compass in Houston says that the state still is showing very weak growth. The main sectors which accounted for September’s jobs growth were leisure and hospitality (10,300 jobs). The hotel industry benefited from recent sporting events and an increase in the number of business travelers.

The company expects more job postings in the next few days as the retail chains announce their plans for this holiday season.
