Geodesic Techniques, India’s leading steel design and build company, will build a roof structure that spreads over 65,000 square meters of area and covers a seating area for over 30,000 people. This project will incorporate more than 1200 metric tons of steel and is due to be completed by mid 2011.

The F1 grandstand will soon join the list of landmark steel structures and projects of Geodesic including the Delhi Airport Terminal 3, Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, Delhi Airport Terminal 1D, and Mumbai’s Terminal 2B. The proposed 5.14 km track, located in Greater Noida promoted by Jaypee Sports International is designed by Hermann Tike – a German racetrack designer who has designed the F1 circuits in Malaysia, Bahrain, China, Turkey, UAE and South Korea. Besides F1, the track will accommodate MotoGP and super bike races as well.

Srinidhi Anantharaman, Managing Director, Geodesic Techniques said, “We are grateful that Jaypee Sports has chosen to partner with us for this project. The key advantage we had in bidding for this project was our deep expertise in both design and build. With our ability to work at the design concept stage with architects, as well as through material specifications and selection we are capable of making an architect’s vision a reality. The project reinforces our long-held view and commitment to the benefits of steel-intensive structures and their role in urban/sports infrastructure.” He further added “With advantages like sustainability, speed of construction and long reusability, steel will increasingly be utilized in commercial and residential development across India. Steel is the future and will enable India to take a mammoth leap in the next few decades in the infrastructure arena.” Geodesic recently began production at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Bidar. It is one of the largest structural steel fabrication facilities in India and makes Geodesic among the rare few capable companies of handling large steel projects. Mr. Anantharaman further added, “I expect that our factory, combined with our deep design expertise, will give us a distinct advantage when bidding for other projects.”
