Nolita Mart delivers a much-needed amenity to NoLita, with handcrafted Stumptown Coffee and a gourmet market with over 2000 organic, local goods.
New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/08/2010 -- Now residents and commuters in Little ChItaly and NoLita can enjoy a cup of locally roasted Stumptown coffee while they shop for groceries produced by nationally recognized specialty vendors and local artisans at the new Nolita Mart & Espresso Bar.
Located at 156 Mott Street in Manhattan, Nolita Mart & Espresso Bar is a gourmet market, convenience store, and serious espresso bar, not to mention the first of its kind in the area. Selina Ho developed the concept for Nolita Mart when she realized how hard it was for locals to get a good cup of coffee and the hassle of trekking uptown to overcrowded gourmet grocery stores. Ms. Ho created the concept with the help of designer Justin Wooton to realize her vision. Quickly she was lining the walls with wood from a reclaimed barn in Albany and polishing the floors to make them LEEDS certified, staying in line with her vision of a sustainable market.
With almost 2000 square feet of retail space, Nolita Mart stocks premium national gourmet food brands and is adding local products to its inventory daily. Nolita Mart & Espresso Bar seeks to keep its business local, and stocks eggs from Feather Ridge Farms in the Hudson Valley, milk in returnable glass bottles from Battenkill Valley Creamery in Salem, New York, and goods directly from Brooklyn, ranging from artisan chocolate to McClures Pickles. And, to stave off the cold of the winter months, Nolita Mart & Espresso Bar will be featuring piping hot Hale & Hearty soup to go with your coffee.
Coffee geeks who live, work and visit Little ChItaly and NoLita have a first-class destination to fulfill their craving. Nolita Mart & Espresso Bar serves Portland-based Stumptown Coffee that is roasted right across the river in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Drip coffee is prepared per order in a unique pour over bar, and lattes and cappuccinos use farm fresh milk from Battenkill Valley Creamery. The veteran baristas are trained by Stumptown and craft drinks using a top of the line La Marzocco G5 espresso machine, handmade in Italy.
In addition to food, Nolita Mart sells convenience items as natural and environmentally responsible - health and beauty aids, cleaning products, pet food and supplies, paper goods, and toiletries. There is also an ATM, newspapers, magazines, and cigarettes. A beer retail license has been submitted, with the hopes of selling micro brewed beer.
Initial hours of operation for Nolita Mart & Espresso Bar are Monday thru Thursday from 7:30 AM until 9:30 PM, Friday from 7:30 AM until 10:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00AM until 10:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM, with the intention of increasing store hours based on customer demands.
