Planet LA Signs L.A. Band Evolove, U.K. Band the Tonepoets

Astoria, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/16/2010 -- Planet LA Records is pleased to announce the signing of its newest artists Evolove (Los Angeles, CA) and The Tonepoets (Midlands, UK).

Evolove is a female-fronted alternative rock band that was recently featured as a finalist in the FreeCreditScore.com national band search. Their songs can be heard in a host of MTV shows including Made, True Life and Teen Mom, and they had three songs in ABC Family’s teen drama Pretty Little Liars. Evolove has performed for Hot Topic’s “Shop Till You Rock Tour” and has a distribution deal with 30 local Hot Topic stores. Evolove also had a promotion deal with Myspace Records and were cited among Music Connection magazine’s Top 100 unsigned bands. Evolove released their debut EP “2012: Countdown to the End” in October 2009 which gained critical acclaim with HollywoodMusicMagazine.com lauding, “Pop inspired guitar riffs and personal yet direct lyrics are what make this album a gem.” Evolove is now working on their “The Sophomore” EP with producer Michael Eisenstein (Letters to Cleo) scheduled for release in early 2011.

The Tonepoets are a Brit “fab four” alternative rock band that picks up where the latest English invasion left off. Their sound combines shoe-gazing elements of the Stone Roses and Blur with the foot-stomping energy of The Clash. Planet LA Records met the blue-blooded quartet at a label-hosted party at a leading industry convention in Los Angeles. Their songs and live shows have already generated massive buzz in the Manchester, Midlands and London UK areas and they are looking to parlay that momentum in the United States. BBC Radio remarked that “Rarely do we have a band in studio playing live who sound as good as their CDs. The Tonepoets are brilliant.” They are working on their debut EP “Primary Colours” scheduled for release in early 2011.

Planet LA Records and its publishing affiliate Planet LA Music provide full-service music promotion and represent artists including local bands Djinn, Native June and When Planets Align, and Indian icon Bappi Lahiri. Planet LA Records also has partnerships with MusicBox publishing library and the charity Not For Sale campaign.
