Dallas, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/26/2010 -- Gas leak at a factory in Nanjing, China, induced a disastrous explosion on 28 July. At least 10 people were killed and more than 100 were injured. High attention and awareness have been aroused by the accident and people could not help but think why so many chemical factories locate in cities and wonder if there is anything can be done to avoid such tragedies in the future.
Factories were usually located on the outskirts of cities. However, with the urbanization and development of cities, these areas have been thriving and crowded. Thus, these factories would definitely threaten the safety of the lives and property.
To solve this problem, governments have been greatly encouraging some factories, pesticide factories included, to relocate to industry parks to realize centralized management. For instance, many pesticide factories have finished the relocation and some are relocating.
However, some factories still have no plan of relocation. The shortage of fund is the biggest difficulty they confront with. Besides, how to settle the staff is another big issue.
There is likelihood that the government would further strengthen the factory management in response to the accident and more measures and policies will possibly be expected in the future.
