Dallas, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/07/2011 -- Coaches and players from Louisiana State University (LSU) recently visited Texas Scottish Rite Hospital For Children patients to sign autographs. Former LSU guard and current volunteer at TSRHC, Wren Worley, attended the visit. Wren was named to the All-SEC team for LSU in 1946 and played in the 1947 Cotton Bowl against the Arkansas Razorbacks. In front of 38,000 people, this match up later became known as the Ice Bowl with a score of 0-0. TSRHC patient Brooks Taylor, age 14 of Kennedale, Texas, will present a gift to the LSU head coach. The AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic is Friday, January 7, 2011, at 7pm CST, at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX.

About Wren Worley
Former LSU guard Wren Worley played for the Tigers as a freshman in 1942, but was called to serve his country as a Corporal in the US Army from 1943 to 1946. He returned to LSU in 1946 where he played football for the next three years. As a sophomore, he was named to the All-SEC team. While at LSU, Wren also played in the 1947 Cotton Bowl against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Played in front of 38,000 people, this match up later became known as the Ice Bowl with a score of 0-0 and remains one of four bowl games to end in a scoreless tie. Now a retired Vice President of American General Life Insurance, Wren has been a devoted volunteer since 1997 at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Currently, he volunteers in the outpatient clinic at TSRHC, two to three days a week, where he assists patient families with check-in for their appointments.
