Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) --05/18/2011 -- Amazon is hiring 1,200 people for its two new fulfillment centers in Tennessee.
The centers, located in Bradley and Hamilton County, will open this fall. Amazon may also open three more such centers in Tennessee. These new centers would add another 2,700 full-time jobs and around 4,000 seasonal jobs.
Amazon is looking to hire full-time hourly positions in its Bradley and Hamilton centers. The positions will be in picking, packing, shipping, and receiving. There will also be a few management positions for safety, operations, technical support, and in human resources.

A deal made by former Governor Phil Bredesen and supported by current Governor Bill Haslam gives the company exemption on charging sales tax to its state customers even after it builds the distribution centers.
Just as in South Carolina, the local businesses in Tennessee are opposed to the fact that Amazon will not have to charge its state customers a sales tax. Currently, since Amazon does not have a physical presence in the state, it does not charge its Tennessee customers a sales tax. Lawmakers in the state are now debating whether to require Amazon to collect sales tax on its online sales once the centers start their operations.
RetailCrossing, a job aggregator website focusing only on the retail industry related jobs has been able to compile over 31,000 jobs so far this week. These 31,000 jobs range from stocker to floor manager and other managerial positions.
