The Seminole Region Charity Golf Tournament has contributed approximately $1.775 million to Special Olympics Palm Beach County and continues to raise funds for this worthy cause.
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program has distributed over 257,000,000 toys to 127,000,000 needy children throughout the nation. Toys for Tots began in 1947, and when Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR in Los Angeles, California collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. The Marine Corps adopted Toys for Tots in 1948, and since 1980, they have collected and distributed only new toys. The goal is to deliver a message of hope that will build self-esteem and in turn motivate needy children to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders. A shiny new toy is the best means of accomplishing this goal. The Seminole Region Charity Golf Tournament has donated over $450,000 worth of toys to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Campaign and $125,000 to the 4th Anglico Marine Birthday Ball.
SOS Children’s Villages – Florida (SOS), makes it possible for abused, abandoned and severely neglected children to experience the meaning of home and family. In the village, children are assured caring parents, brothers and sisters, and a place they can call home. The Village is located on an eight-acre cul-de-sac in Coconut Creek on the border of Broward and Palm Beach counties. Features include 11 single-family homes, community center, counseling center and administrative buildings. SOS Children’s Villages – Florida is a proud member of a worldwide network of children’s villages providing homes to over 50,000 children in 132 countries.
