Balefire Labs Chooses Oregon-based Rocket Math & 14 other Apps From 1,200 Applicants
Happy Valley, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/19/2016 -- In the last few years, the United States educational system has failed to produce high math scores. The land of the free has fallen behind many developed countries in reading and math – a fact that does not sit well with many Americans. One such concerned man decided to take matters into his own hands no less than seven years ago. Dr. Don Crawford founded Rocket Math in 2009 to market his supplemental math curriculum that teachers can use to support their other teaching strategies. Most recently Balefire Labs awarded Rocket Math with the Best EdApp of the Year for a pair of apps: Rocket Math Addition & Rocket Math Multiplication.
Based in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, Balefire Labs Inc. is a provider of objective evaluations of PreK-12 educational apps and games, based on rigorous, scientifically-validated criteria. The honor from Balefire Labs helps to highlight the incredible benefit Rocket Math is to educators across the country. These pair of apps are the digital version of the in-class curriculum developed by Dr. Crawford, effectively allowing students to practice math outside the classroom and on-the-go.
Only 16 of the more than 1,200 apps submitted to Balefire Labs received recognition as Best EdApp of the Year. For company owner and founder Dr. Crawford, this recognition reinforces Rocket Math's usefulness in the classroom, "I designed this curriculum to be easily adoptable. It is a quick routine that teachers can seamlessly weave into their regular teaching, as a method of developing their students' fluency with basic math facts. Ultimately, I sincerely hope that Rocket Math can be utilized to its full extent – to help students all across our great nation develop number sense and to make computations with ease."
About Rocket Math
Rocket Math was created in 1998 by Dr. Don Crawford to help young students do math with more ease and fluency. The original Rocket Math is a 10 minutes-a-day, paper and pencil, worksheet-based, supplemental math facts practice curriculum. The program is a uniquely structured curriculum for the sequential practice and mastery of math facts. Students become fluent with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts with Rocket Math, and teachers can use it as a supplement to the rest of their usual curriculum.
