Houston, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/28/2016 -- Dr. Silverman has a broad range of experience in multiple fields. His depth of knowledge has helped many organizations, including the DEA and FBI, and individuals ranging from Veterans and Contractors suffering from PTSD to defendants with Asperger's Disorder fighting court cases. Dr. Silverman has also practiced pediatrics and has worked full time as an Emergency Physician.

He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry with added qualifications in Addiction and Forensic Psychiatry. He has testified in a number of states in both State and Federal Jurisdictions.

Dr. Silverman regularly consults on Forensic cases that were thought to be hopeless (no mental health issues). His unique training and experience help him understand the interplay of psychiatric, psychosocial and medical factors that might otherwise be missed in a case. Dr. Silverman's consultations have consistently resulted in unique strategies and outcomes.

In cases where either Civil- or Criminal-related Forensic Psychiatric expertise have been needed, Dr. Silverman has been retained by complainants and respondents as well as prosecutors and defense counsel. In addition, he has been appointed by Federal and State judges. He has been appointed in death penalty cases and has treated and provided therapy to female and male inmates who were housed in jails, prisons and on Death Row. He has written risk assessments and participated in different types of appeals, including one that resulted in a stay of execution for a Death Row inmate.

Dr. Silverman continues to be involved in the evaluation, diversion and treatment of defendants and provides regular feedback to the courts regarding defendants' progress. Due in part to his diverse experiences, he was asked in 2006 to co-found the course "Mental Health Issues in Criminal Law" at the University of Houston Law School.

"Currently, I divide my time evenly between my clinical, and civil and criminal forensic practices. I believe that my clinical experience allows me to provide more in-depth, unique and timely forensic assessments and strategies. I also enjoy being a frequent contributor to local media and always welcome informal consults. My ultimate goal and approach is to treat each case uniquely and develop strategies that work and restore hope."
