Stop Childhood Pain Announces Availability of Pediatric Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome (AMPS) Resources and Support

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/20/2015 -- Parents who have watched their children suffer from amplified musculoskeletal pain syndromes (AMPS) often feel helpless when attempting to find resources, expert advice and support for their child's disease. Whether researching a treatment facility with medical experts who specialize in AMPS, deciding on a treatment plan or simply looking to connect with others who can relate to their struggles, it can be difficult to find information aggregated in a way that's ultimately useful for patients and their families. The Stop Childhood Pain website, run by the Childhood RND Educational Foundation, Inc., announces that it is providing resources to help parents and medical professionals learn more about these conditions and how they're treated at some of the world's leading children's hospitals.

The Childhood RND Educational Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed in 2002, with the aim of educating both healthcare professionals and the general public about pediatric AMPS. The term "amplified musculoskeletal pain" encompasses many different pain syndromes, including fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) or reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), diffuse or localized amplified pain, chronic idiopathic pain, neuropathic pain, myofascial pain and others – all of which can cause intense pain and disruption to the life of a child suffering from amplified pain.

Along with diffusing information about treatment option efficacy and research, Stop Childhood Pain supports research on AMPS at the Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania, where an intensive treatment program is showing extremely positive results.

Medical professionals and families of those affected by AMPS can visit the Stop Childhood Pain website to view academic papers and peer-reviewed journal articles, patient videos, AMPS diagnostic and treatment guidelines and other informational resources. Through Stop Childhood Pain, parents can get the answers to their questions and guidance from medical experts who specialize in pediatric AMPS and who have treated thousands of young patients.
