Brierfield, Nelson -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/21/2017 -- Most fuel tanks require cleaning on a regular basis; however most people don't know how. This is why The Car Care Council has recently provided a series of simple steps in which all can follow. These are as follows:

1.Drain the fuel tank into an approved container
2.Clean all rust and debris from the top of the fuel tank
3.Remove fuel pump
4.Swill out the gas tank, pouring out any remaining debris and gas
5.Clean the interior of the gas tank with a low-suds soap and water mix
6.Wash the tank out again, this time using cleaning solution
7.Empty the tank and dry thoroughly with compressed air
8.Wipe the inside of the tank with a lint-free towel
9.Inspect the tank to check for any damage, if the tank is damaged it will need replacing
10.Ensure tank is completely dry
