Having been in development for many years, ‘The Greatest Sin’ series and its main character, Chavali, are finally hitting the literary world thanks to creators Lee French and Erik Kort. ‘The Fallen’ sets the perfect scene, proving that even the darkest fantasy worlds struggle with the fear and uncertainty of reality.
Worcester, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/30/2014 -- The fantasy genre offers authors boundless opportunities to take their readers to far-off worlds and into experiences they’ll never be afforded on Earth. However, for Lee French and Erik Kort, their latest series bucks the trend by colliding fantastical themes with the deep-rooted emotions that plague each and every reader.
‘The Greatest Sin’ has been in diligent development for a number of years. Following intensive character and narrative composition, the series is finally marking its release with volume one – ‘The Fallen’. The book’s bold plot remains true to its core mandate – compelling readers to examine and explore the struggles that exist in their own lives.
Synopsis:
For hundreds of years, the Blaukenev clan has wandered across Tilzam, from one end to the other and back. Each wagon carries history, love, laughter, pain, sorrow, and secrets. Their greatest secret of all may be Chavali, the clan Seer. Spirits claim use save damn her. With her gift/curse, nothing surprises her anymore, no one keeps secrets from her. She, on the other hand, has more than enough secrets to keep.
Secrets of her own, secrets of her clan, secrets of the world, secrets she even keeps from herself. There are always people who want secrets. Some will do anything to get what they want.
The Fallen is the foundation of the story of The Greatest Sin, of a world adrift from its God that desperately wants Her back. Chavali's comfortable, predictable life will be ripped apart and burnt to ashes as she's forced into the middle of that struggle. Change, she hates it passionately. It hates her right back.
French and Kort’s partnership has produced a series that’s more intricate than most.
“We’ve certainly had our work cut out for us. Not only have we had to develop the story and the character of Chavali, but the vivid world of Tilzam. Dozens of hours were spent designing the cultures and history so we could build the stories as realistically as possible. In fact, to assist readers, a stunning map of the world is printed on the first page,” says French, a prolific writer.
Adding, “Most readers will find the narrative hits close to home. Chavali is no ordinary person, yet she still struggles with the fears and uncertainties that nobody can escape, in this world or any other. It's her stubbornness and downright orneriness that keep her grounded in what really matters: family and duty.”

About Erik Kort
Erik Kort abides in the glorious Pacific Northwest, otherwise known as Mirkwood-Without-The-Giant-Spiders, though the normal-sized spiders often grow too numerous for his comfort. He is defended from all eight-legged threats by his brave and overly tolerant wife, and is mocked by his obligatory writer's cat. When not writing, Erik comforts the elderly, guides youths through vast wildernesses, and smuggles more books into his library of increasingly alarming size.
