Tidy Books Celebrates 10 Years of Getting Kids Reading - A Tale of a Mum and a Bookcase

Tidy Books celebrates its 10th birthday this June. The journey of the company began in 2004, when founder Geraldine Grandidier built the first Tidy Books bookcase in her violin workshop. Today the company’s innovative and award-winning products get distributed around the world in the context of a global expansion scheme.

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/12/2014 -- Tidy Books, the children’s bookcase company, famous for its innovative design which encourages kids to read, celebrates its 10th birthday this month.

Tidy Books was established in 2004 by mum Geraldine Grandidier, who created the first Tidy Books front-facing bookcase for her own children. She began the Tidy Books business with £500 and made the first bookcases herself in her violin workshop in East London.

Ten years on, Tidy Books is an international business, retailing in the UK through John Lewis, and in the US via Diapers and Wayfair, and many other stores. Following successful equity crowdfunding in 2014, Tidy Books is currently pursuing a rapid global expansion plan and has launched e-commerce websites in France and d Germany, with more to come.

Geraldine Grandidier, who was awarded top US business accolade, Stevie Award for Women in Business, Gold in 2013, said

“It’s extraordinary, and a bit humbling, that so many parents and kids around the world love the bookcase I created for my own children 10 years ago. I knew I’d created a revolutionary bookcase for kids, because there was nothing else like it on the market for the home, and right from the start, I set out to create a global business, and put a Tidy Books bookcase in every child’s bedroom.”

Ruth Duncan, Tidy Books marketer, explained Tidy Books’ appeal:

Parents tell us that books become interesting suddenly, as their kids can see books they’d forgotten about- their bookcase has turned kids into little bookworms. Plus the awards that the Tidy Books have won, give parents the confidence that other parents and experts endorse what it does for kids.”

Tidy Books Children’s Bookcases are stocked in Diapers.com and Wayfair in the US, John Lewis in the UK, or online at Tidy Books’ website, and priced from $199/£145.
