Tokyo, Japan -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/10/2015 -- On 1 November, Takaski, LLC., a Tokyo-based startup company, announced that they launched an online shop that sells only made in Japan products. Takaski's 'made in Japan only' policy was adopted to distinguish itself in the increasingly competitive ecommerce business. All the products on their online shelves are designed and produced in Japan by Japanese companies.

This is not a standard practice in ecommerce, Executive Director of Marketing Peter Stanis explained. "Many made in China products, for example, are sold as Japanese products online. Because shoppers tend to pay a premium price for Japanese stuff, there are so many products that are made to look like Japanese. At our shop, everything customers purchase is made in Japan by Japanese companies."

In effect Takaski does not sell products that are made by Japanese companies if they are not made in Japan. Director of Quality Management Toshiko Takahashi said, "Take Japanese cars as an example. No matter how much quality control is exercised, there are still differences in quality between domestic and overseas productions. From nappies to matcha to Hello Kitty to traditional iron teapot, we check where they are produced before listing them at our store. This seems like an anti-globalization attitude, but that's how we want to do our business - honest and authentic."

Takaski has a wholesale business, too, offering discounts to cafes and restaurants. To promote Japanese culture overseas, the company is happy to offer 15% discount to educational institutions offering courses on Japanese language learning and cultural understanding.

Takaski is also eyeing its first physical shop in Eastern Europe by 2017. Tokyo-based Polish-Australian Chief Executive Officer Marcin Debski said, "Our Japanese friend was served Korean instant noodles in a Japanese restaurant in Poland. And it was quite expensive. Japan is well respected in Eastern Europe, but many people still can't tell authentic Japanese things from non-authentic ones. We want the people there to enjoy an amazing quality of made in Japan products."
