USINPAC to Host a Community Reception Celebrating US-India Relations

PM Modi’s Visit to the US - High on Symbolism

Reston, VA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/07/2016 -- In the backdrop of PM Modi's visit this week, seen largely as a consolidation and celebration of the US-India relationship, USINPAC will be hosting an Indian American community reception on Capitol Hill. The reception will recognize and honor the efforts of the Indian American community who contributed to the growth of US-India bilateral ties. The reception will be attended by Members of the US Congress and Indian American leaders.

The last decade witnessed the two largest democracies enter a new phase that President Obama once described as 'the defining partnership of the 21st century.'

Indian Prime Minister Modi, visiting the US for the fourth time since taking office, will be in the nation's capital from June 6-8 on an invitation from President Obama. Modi's power packed schedule features one on one and delegation level meetings, a joint press conference and lunch at the White House with the President. The next day will find PM Modi addressing a joint session of the Congress, back to back meetings at the Hill, lunch with House Speaker Paul Ryan, which is a first and a rare reception by the Senate and House foreign relations Committees and the India caucuses. The last decades saw a 'maturing of the relationship' between the two nations; the landmark Civil Nuclear Deal, two visits to India by President Obama, once as chief guest at India's Republic Day. Obama has articulated support for India's membership of the UN Security Council, US support for India's membership of multilateral export control regimes and advances made in India-US defense partnership. This visit will also maintain momentum between the two nations as the White House welcomes a new administration next year.

Announcing the reception Mr. Sanjay Puri, Chairman of USINPAC said, "After a decade of advocacy for improving bilateral relations between the US and India, today we see the fruits of our labor. We have a strong and vibrant bilateral partnership in the spheres of defense, economy, security, humanitarian etc. USINPAC will celebrate and honor the people behind these efforts. Come join us in this celebration"
