Viralbutterfly Launch Video Campaign in Fight Against High Suicide Rates

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/08/2015 -- Every forty seconds one person in the world commits suicide. A new video hopes to help people learn the warning signs that a person is in trouble and needs help and support. The people behind the video also want to remove the stigma associated with mental illness and would like people to communicate more.

In 2012 in the UK, there were 5,981 suicides reported with people aged 15 and over. A new video has been launched by Viralbutterfly to help reduce that number, and encourage people to seek help as well as helping people to understand what signs to look out for.

The video campaign hopes to encourage people who are suffering from depression and have thoughts about suicide to reach out to someone. Unfortunately, a lot of people fail to ask for help from family and friends, fearing of the stigma that goes with mental health. The campaign hopes to remove that stigma and encourage people to reach out to someone, from a family member, a friend, a workmate, to someone passing in the street. With organizations available and waiting to help, including MIND, it is important for people with problems to understand, it is good to talk to someone, no matter who that person is.

The campaign also hopes to help people learn more about the warnings signs that a person is on the edge and needs urgent help and support. The message is clear, don't wait for tragedy to take place before reaching out to a loved one.

The video is not just aimed at family and friends it is aimed at everyone. This includes a neighbour, or a work friend who may see a change in a person's behaviour. By knowing what to look out for, and by removing the stigma associated with mental illness, and by working together, people who are quietly suffering can get the help they need.

The World Health Organization reported that somewhere in the world a person takes his or her own life every forty seconds. That means there is a high possibility while reading this, or watching the important video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQvdMKMmcRw, someone in the world has just lost their life.

Dean Charles from Viralbutterfly explained the reason behind the video campaign: "A work colleague committed suicide, which was a total shock for all that knew and worked with him. A few days later a friend explained he was bipolar - I didn't even know what that meant at the time. We were totally blindsided because on the surface and around work everything seemed ok."

That story is so common. People who are depressed can be good at hiding their problems, and that is why it is important to share the video and support the campaign and to understand what the warning signs could be.

"The loss of life is always a tragedy. For a while the question was-- if we had known what our colleague was going through, could we have helped them?" explained Dean Charles

To help reduce the suicide rate in the UK and the world, it is important to watch the video, share the video and talk about the video. By helping to make people aware of the video, it could just help save a person's life.

For people who are suffering from mental illness and feeling depressed, it is important to talk to someone no matter who they are.
