Tom A. Savage, author of the best-selling book, “Nothin’ But A Champion,” releases new inspirational book, “What’s Next?”
Sioux Falls, SD -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/04/2014 -- “What’s Next?" is the amazing discovery of Tom A. Savage’s life's work as a professional sports executive. Savage recounts his career as a pro sports executive in the NFL, IndyCar, and the NBA; including his perspective on what really happened in Seattle and what led up to one of the biggest controversial NBA moves in history as the SuperSonics moved to Oklahoma City.
“A lot of people still don’t know what really happened when the Sonics left Seattle, and some people still think I had something to do with the move,” Savage said. “Hopefully, fans will look at the move from a different perspective after I shed some light on the subject. Bottom line, I still think the Oklahoma City ownership never intended to move the team to Oklahoma City when they first bought the team. A lot went down that no one knows about.”
Tom Savage was the Director of Public Relations for four different NBA and WNBA teams: Houston Rockets/Comets, Los Angeles Lakers, Indiana Pacers/Fever, and the Seattle SuperSonics. In this role, he led the team’s media relations efforts and worked with media members from around the world. Savage built close relationships with executives at such outlets as ESPN, NBC, ABC, and CNN. Savage worked closely with high-profile athletes such as Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Ray Allen, Dennis Rodman, Charles Barkley, Phil Jackson, Danica Patrick, and Kevin Durant.
The Sioux Falls native traveled around the country providing media training for several NFL athletes including Devin Hester, Dez Bryant, Dustin Keller, Richard Seymour, Steven Jackson, and Larry Fitzgerald. He also handled the PR efforts for the world’s largest one-day sporting event, the Indianapolis 500.
But in the end, why does Savage choose to leave it all behind?
In his new release, “What’s Next?", Savage describes how he used the experiences of his professional career in order to make the single, most important decision that would change his life forever.
