Properly seasoning wood is time-consuming, taking up to a year for each inch of thickness. Kiln-drying the wood can be a delicate process as well; workers must work slowly and carefully, as the variation in grains can cause them to dry at different rates. In fact, seasoning the wood is so essential to his method that Mr. Greene even utilizes a moisture meter to ensure it has been properly dried.

Because each slab is properly dried, seasoned, and hand-finished, it can withstand seasonal temperature changes and fluctuations in humidity. This helps to ensure the wood will not crack or warp either, meaning its exceptional condition will remain intact for generations to come.
