Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/09/2015 -- On November 19th, When In Need Foundation(WiN) presented four educational scholarships of $1,000 each to recipients from Philadelphia area schools, which were St. Francis De Dales School, John Hallahan Girls Catholic School, City School and The Roman Catholic School at the Enterprise Center in Philadelphia. The Keynote Speaker at the event was The Honorable Councilwoman Jannie L. Blackwell - 3rd District and Chair, Education Committee who stressed the importance of a getting a good education, with special remarks from Councilman David OH – Minority Whip, Hon. Stanley Straughter and State Rep. Vanessa Brown.
Mr. Kayode Malomo, Project Director for the WiN Foundation, was pleased to welcome and thank each guest for their commitment to investing in the future of inner-city youths through supporting this scholarship initiative. Mr. Malomo stressed the importance of education as a key driver to unlocking human potential.
Mr. George Onuorah, Media Director shared some insight into the WiN Foundation's global-scale work on education while Mr. Godwin Nwoga introduced the entire WiN Foundation team. Ms Chetachi Ecton, Founder and CEO reinforced When In Need Foundation's commitment to supporting students' education, particularly for women and children because they are the most vulnerable segment of our society.
In other news for the When in Need Foundation, on November 24, 2015, the organization brought its mission to help others to fruition yet again by donating turkeys to families all across the Philadelphia area. That wasn't the only manifestation of this remarkable organization's exemplary efforts to put forth good will and opportunity into the world. On Thanksgiving Day, When In Need Foundation and its team of volunteers also donated and served dinners to hundreds of Queens, NY residents at The Rock Church.
Earlier in the month on Nov. 14th, You Can Go To College Committee honored several individuals who were creating significant impact in their communities at Terrace on The Park in New York. The Founder & CEO of the When In Need Foundation, Ms Chetachi Ecton was honored with the Community Impact Award at the Nineteenth Achievement Awards & Scholarship Benefit Luncheon themed "Don't Give Up Your Dream" geared towards encouraging students to embrace educational excellence.
The WiN Foundation strives to unlock potential globally through its many charitable and benevolent efforts. Aside from their Thanksgiving turkey giveaway, and through their Mission of Mercy initiatives, the WiN Foundation's Thanksgiving in Corona, NY, saw the organization feed needy families. The event also had music and face-painting for children, as well.
Other, less recent but just as relevant, undertakings by the When In Need Foundation include their addressing the Philadelphia Mayor's Commission on African & Caribbean Immigrant Affairs. During this address, the WiN Foundation brought up salient points like the public's understanding of rich history, diverse culture and other geographic concerns regarding African and Caribbean nations before the Honorable Councilwoman Jannie L. Blackwell –3rd District, Hon. Stanley Straughter –Honorary Consul of Guinea, and Dolores Mohammed – Vice Chair of the Commission.
