Allentown, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/29/2019 -- Allentown, PA – YMC America has introduced YMC-Triart Bio C18 – a novel, organic/inorganic hybrid silica phase derivatized with C18 (L1 USP designation) based on wide-pore (300Å) particles. This new stationary phase is designed for HPLC and UHPLC separations of proteins, peptides, and oligonucleotides, and is particularly useful for biomolecules over 10,000 Da molecular weight.
The wide 300 Å pore size of YMC-Triart Bio C18 enables improved large molecule interaction with the surface of the stationary phase. Compared to conventional C18 phases, peak shape is improved; closely resolved sample components are better separated; and quantitative results are more reproducible.
Triart Bio C18 is also well-suited for high-sensitivity analysis using mass spec-friendly mobile phases containing formic acid or TFA, and offers lower hydrophobicity which allows for shorter runtimes with analytes that are strongly retained on conventional C18 phases
YMC-Triart Bio C18 offers the same advantages common to all stationary phases in the YMC-Triart hybrid family: hybrid particle technology allows for the use of wide temperature and pH ranges (up to 90°C at pH 1-7, and 50°C at pH 7-12). This provides the biochromatographer with freedom to optimize these important separation conditions, without having to worry about stationary phase durability.
Although designed for large molecule separations, YMC-Triart Bio C18 exhibits hydrophobicity lower than conventional C18, enabling YMC-Triart Bio C18 to provide fast elution times of highly hydrophobic small molecules as well.
A companion phase, YMC-Triart Bio C4, has the same wide pore design, but a shorter alkyl chain, also resulting in lower hydrophobicity, providing biochromatographers an additional option for reversed phase separations.
